Impact Sunday

  • 09:00 AM
  • Meet at Bridges

If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. – 1 John 3:17-18 (NLT)

For us at Bridges our location is more than just an address, it is our place in this community. We have a responsibility to love our community and to demonstrate genuine compassion. On May 21, we are canceling Sunday worship services so that we can roll up our sleeves and come together to let truth speak out in our actions.

We have 8 great projects spread out around the city and on our campus. All of the projects are family friendly and we encourage you to serve as a family. We will have onsite nannies available to help with children at the Horner/Mission Spring Landscaping project.

9:00 am – MEET AT CHURCH
9:45 am – 12:00 pm – PROJECT WORK
11:30 am – 1:30 pm – LUNCH AVAILABLE ($5)

Tri City Food Bank – 37350 Joseph St

Tri-City food bank serves over 16,000 individuals in the Tri-Cities. We are continuing a multi-phased project of helping them convert to a client-choose model, which allows clients to “shop” for their food. For this phase of the project we are building wooden room dividers and lunch prep station, painting, basic sorting, and clean up.

Home Beautification – 4761 Central Ave.

This year we are teaming up with the city of Fremont’s code enforcers. We have identified a resident who needs extra support. Over the years their yard has become seriously overgrown and their house needs some paint and a bit of care. With the help of our awesome volunteers we will give this property a complete makeover.

For many seniors being in a care home or convalescent home can be a lonely place. They are removed from friends and family and their daily routine.

Carlton Senior Living Facility*

This project hopes to bring a bit of joy and levity to the residents lives. Our team will play music and visit with the them.

Aegis Living*

We will serve the residence at Aegis by helping clients with memory exercises, reading to them, and participating other social activities. We will also host a balance and exercise class. Dr. Jon Duong will lead a simple class and our volunteers will support the class and interact with the residents.

Hospitality Team*

We love our volunteers and this year we want to give them a special treat, as they are hard at work. The hospitality team will be traveling to the various project sites and make and distribute flavored milk tea or ice teas to the teams.

Bike Repair Clinic

A good working bike can be an awesome machine, but when a bike does not work properly it can be a major headache. We will repair and distribute bicycles for low-income children and individuals who use their bikes for daily transportation.

Meals for those in need*

When crisis or tragedy hits, people can find themselves without the energy to make a basic meal. This project will make 100 ready-made meals to be frozen and distributed as needed.

Hopkins Jr. High/ Mission San Jose High Spring Landscaping

Our children’s education matters greatly to us. This is the reason it is so important that we as a church support our local schools. By providing meaningful support to our schools we can show love to our community. **We will have onsite childcare for this project.**

* Spots on these projects have been reserved for seniors
