First Serve
A Taste of Serving With No Strings Attached
The First Serve opportunities encourage volunteers to explore various roles and participate in a variety of activities until they find a ministry area where they feel at home. If you have no experience serving, this is the place for you. People who have experience serving but want to try something new are also welcome to try out a First Serve.
Anyone is welcome, even first-time guests! To try out First Serve, contact us.
First Serves also:
• provide an opportunity to get involved without a longer term
commitment
• give you an idea of what it would be like to be part
of our community
• create an opportunity to get instantly connected and meet
other people
• allow you to pick the right opportunity to fit with your
schedule
• provide a way for you to "test-drive" the different areas of
service
• enable you to see what ministry areas are right for you
First Serve Opportunities:
There are dozens of ways you can try out First Serve. Some involve hands-on experience. Others are opportunities to give you a taste of the ministry through interaction and observation.

| Greeters | Make a positive difference to first time visitors to our campus and welcome people with a warming smile and handshake. Meet and greet visitors. |

| Guest Usher | Help newcomers to our church by providing a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere to all guests who walk through our doors. Hand out brochures, seat people, answer questions and direct them to where they want to be. |

| Outside Coffee and Refreshments | Ensure coffee and food needs of the church people are met by monitoring and replenishing of supplies. | Fremont |
| Traffic Team | Set up parking signs on. Place parking cones on campus. Track number of cars parked at church campus and offsite. | Fremont |
| Video Café Refreshment Service | Involves setup (and/or sometimes cleanup), food prep, and serving of breakfast refreshments. | Fremont |
| Communion Preparation Helpers | Prepare crackers and juice for communion. Clear away after service. | Fremont |
| Communion Servers | Serving communion - we need volunteers for both services and both venues. You will gather at the communion table to collect both wine and bread, serve church body and subsequently return. | Fremont |
| Information Table Helper | Respond to the many questions we get about service locations, service times, ministry areas, brochures and handouts, service recordings, plus a host of other needs. | Fremont |
| Service Setup Assistant | Help coordinate and setup for Sunday service in Livermore. Involves offloading chairs, equipment and supplies from our mobile truck and setting up in time for service. | Livermore |

| First Serve | Description | Location |
| Awana Club Leader | Encourages and mentors during weekly Awana Club meetings. Listen to bible verse recitation, help with games, and support club activities that bring children closer to God. | Fremont |
| Awana Club Secretary | Assist with weekly registration and sign-in for children. Includes collection of dues, keeping records of individual awards, etc. | Fremont |
| Awana Listener/Helper | Help in Awana Club on a regular basis (weekly or as needed). Assist Awana Leaders by listening to Bible verse recitation or helping with snacks, games and other activities. | Fremont |
| Children's Graphic Artist | Design and create background scenery and props (wall charts, pictures, etc.) that can be used to reinforce teaching concepts. | Fremont |
| Children's Class Materials Preparation | Help prepare craft and small group packets for children’s bible class activities. Involves cutting, assembly and packaging for small group studies. | Fremont |
| Classroom Setup | Setup for children’s Sunday morning classes by setting out supplies (sign-up sheets, pens, name tags), and preparing small group tables with games and activities. | Fremont |
| Classroom Cleanup and Take Down | Help in cleaning up and putting away children’s games and materials in the right places ready for the following week. Also includes evaluating and assessing inventory needs. | Fremont |
| Technical Setup | Help set up the computers in classrooms so they are ready to be used when the children arrive for their Sunday classes, we would like to hear from you. | Fremont |

| Junior High Games Facilitator | Lead and facilitate games and activities at our mid-week Underground meetings. | Fremont |
| Student Ministry Technician | Partner with another technician leader to observe and learn how to operate sound effects and lighting. | Fremont |
| Junior High Ministry Helpers | Observe and see what goes on during our small group discussion periods. | Fremont |
| Student Ministry Setup Crew Member | Help to set up for the evening activities. Involves setting up the room with props and stage supplies for games. | Fremont |

| Adult Volunteer Leader | Come and hang out with a great group of college-age people on Sunday nights. Observe an evening as a First Serve volunteer in order to learn how to help facilitate prayer groups, worship, bible sessions and discussion in small groups. | Fremont |
| Adult Coach | Come and share your life, go through life, and invest in a college-age person on a deeper level. This is an opportunity to build a relationship and provide a college-age person with your life experiences. | Fremont |
| Coffee Barista/Helper | If you like the atmosphere of a coffee shop this is where coffee and college-age people come together. We need help making both plain and espresso drinks during our Sunday College meeting sessions. | Fremont |
